Book Love

I don’t know what it is about books that makes me swoon. I just can’t help it. I’m sure kindles are great and all but I love being able to flip a page and hold it in my hands, feel the weight of it… Uh. Steal my heart every time.

College was evil and stole all my time of reading for pleasure, now I mostly like to look at picture books because it takes zero brain power. Here are a few (dozen…) books that I would love to spend my time reading through.

Kate Spade New York: Things We Love

I’m Awkward You’re Awkward by Shelby Abbott

Maddie On Things by Theron Humphrey

Bon Appetit by Jessie Hartland

Lunch in Paris by Elizabeth Band

Home Love by Megan Morton

Little Book of Lettering by Emily Gregory

You’re Awesome: 21 Crafts to Make You Happy by Abbey Hendrickson

The Newlywed Kitchen by Lorna Yee & Alie Basye

And I would also love to get my hands on Molly Wizenberg’s book and A Beautiful Mess’s books when they come out… I’m afraid I’m going to have to wait awhile for those three though….

Craving White

Lately I cannot keep my eyes off white things. Shirts, dresses, vases, walls, furniture, you name it! I want it in white.

Here is a little compilation of white items I am lusting after.

white mantel

white couch

white dresser

white lamp

I just can’t get enough white! Every piece I add to my closet lately seems to be white as well! I bought this adorable white eyelet dress from Francesca’s just before going to Florida and you can never have too many white t-shirts in my opinion. What can I say…I just love white.

Valentine’s Day Jump Start

I know it is hard to believe it is almost Valentine’s Day already. Some of us (one crazy friend of mine in particular) like to make all our Valentine’s by hand. So, if you so happen to fall into that select few of people, I have a little inspiration for you.

Valentine’s for the overly ambitious

Inspirational quotes for the romantics

Valentine’s for everyone

Heart shaped inspiration for the traditionalist

Sappy movies for the hopeless romantics

DIY: Anthro Knock Off

Nauticus Pocket Top

Anthropolgie has these adorably simple tees with a mismatched patterned pocket. This past weekend I snagged two plain v-necks from Old Navy and selected two small pieces of fabric from my overflowing baskets. The project only took half an hour to do both pockets.

What I loved most about this quick project is being able to choose which ever fabric I want for the pockets. You aren’t limited to a store’s selection, two solids, or even one solid. Another adorable option would be a striped tee with a floral pocket.

Make sure to cut the pocket larger than you want it to ensure having seam allowance.

Bedroom Series: Lamp Revamp

Today’s project was a simple one. The actual work took less than an hour, it just happened to take all day for the paint to dry.

Repainting the lamp was a three step process.
1. Dust the lamp.
2. Prime the lamp (twice).
3. Paint the lamp.

Real simple. I love the little bit of shimmer the paint I used has.

The bedroom is almost complete. I just have the wall opposite of the bed left to tackle (and honestly, I’m at a loss for ideas). Perhaps I’ll scroll through hundreds of pins on Pinterest and stumble upon some inspiration.

Bedroom Series: Pillows

Last night I made a little more progress on the bedroom. I sewed my pillows for the bed and switched out my jewelry and makeup containers. Instructions for the pillows are from yesterday.

Orange flower pots: Target
Red bowl: Anthropologie
Metal tartlets & cupcake tin: vintage

Washi Tape Tabs

For Christmas I got a bunch of washi tape that I have been dying to use! Here is a quick (5 minutes or less) little project to play with any washi tape you have laying around.

I used my washi tape to make month tabs in my planner. By ripping about 3 inch long strips of tape, I taped them to the starting page for each month. Quick project. Pretty tape.
